The bookstore at the Nat is a fascinating place to Texas PPI team members. When we investigated the Nat Ballroom, we all felt that there was something different about it. The book store has literally 1,000's of books here for sale. It seems that there are more books here than most libraries. Books of many different types, styles and titles are available. Paperbacks, Hardcover, Fiction, Non-fiction, Children’s, How-to, Old and Rare cover the shelves and counters everywhere.

In the prime of the grand ballroom, an addition was built and a restaurant was added on the North side of the building. This truly made the Nat Ballroom a great place for a night on the town. One place you could go for a fine dinner and the best music and dancing in the area.

Several weeks after our first investigation on the Ballroom we were very interested in returning to investigate the Book Store. We all felt that there was something about this area as it held a feeling that was different from the dance hall. This became evident as we began our investigation.

In the front half of the bookstore there was one particular area where an old chair sits quietly in a corner. With that chair came the feeling of an older man sitting in it. One team member described the feeling as if there was an old man who was annoyed or maybe even angry. One of our investigators sat down into the chair and quickly got out as she began to feel somewhat threatened.

In contrast to the one area, the back half of the bookstore felt more comfortable. We all felt there was something here but we had a hard time trying to figure out our feelings of it. The feelings ranged from creepy to anxious to scared. One of the investigators actually saw a figure for a brief moment in a corner of book shelves. He said the figure appeared to be that of a young girl in a dress and that she was trying to hide from us as we came around a corner. It was like we had surprised and frightened her. Almost as soon as he had seen her, she disappeared. Around this same time one of the ladies on the team noted that she began to smell the scent of lavender around the same area. Several people on the team reported smelling the fragrance also.

Another occurrence in the back half of the bookstore startled one of the ladies. Her back had been hurting a little so she had sit down in a chair while two other investigators sat around also. They were in the area to conduct the sit down portion of the investigation. The feeling of her back being massaged was frightening at first but soon felt that the young girl, we discovered earlier, was trying to help and make the investigator feel better.

As we investigated both halves of the bookstore we did record very minor changes in equipment readings. Particularly, in the areas where the presence of the old man and young girl were felt. In these two areas the base temperatures were a full 2-3 degrees cooler than other areas. The electro-magnetic fields were very slightly higher as well. There were very few photographs or audio recordings that possessed any evidence. The surveillance night vision cameras did not record any usable film to suggest any paranormal activity.
