Investigation

Texas Panhandle Paranormal Investigations contacted the current owner and was given permission to investigate the stories of paranormal activity the team had heard of about with in the walls of this fine building. One story tells of a previous owner who would open up in the morning to find all of the furniture re-arraigned from the night before. Another was of a woman seen wondering around the building in a white dress that had a red stain on the front from either blood or red wine. Seems she enjoyed her time there so much that she decided to stay. There is even a report of an older couple seen gliding around on the dance floor when dances were in progress but the apparition would soon disappear when the music stopped. When we spoke with the current owner he told us he hears noises mostly very late at night and after parties there. Mostly footsteps are heard but also a woman’s voice that sounds muffled coming from somewhere inside the building on the second floor.

The team arrived and set up video cameras on the second floor over looking the dance floor and the balcony area where the supper club once echoed with frivolity. Afterwards, the team began sweeps looking for Electro-magnetic Field (EMF) anomalies, temperature variances, Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) and photographic evidence of paranormal activity. No unusual temperature or EMF fluctuations were recorded during the sweeps. Feelings of happiness and joy were felt by team members throughout the time there. During the investigation the name "Annie" was felt by Kevin but no confirmation was recorded. Both Marcia and Kristen felt the presence of an older gentleman in casual 1950's attire. This was confirmed through the use of Kathy’s pendalum during a questioning session later in the evening.

The team had decided to take a short break after the sweeps. Upon re-entering the building through the main bookstore entrance on the north end of the building, Kendra and Kevin both heard a book slip and fall to the floor from the area around the bookstore counter. This was recorded on audio only. The team broke up into 3 groups and began photo and EVP work. During this time Scott and Kevin were together on the stage when they heard a woman whisper when there was not a woman in the area. Replay of audio captured what sounds like a woman giggle. Everyone did feel like there was a presence in the back corner of the book store. When reviewing the EVP there was a voice captured in the bookstore very near the entrance to the dance floor. Kevin had taken a wrong turn into a corner where a light was on. Kevin commented that he always kept turning in that direction because of the light. We captured an EVP saying "Christian" during that time.

Overall, our impressions of The Nat are very positive and we all enjoyed our time there. We even took a few minutes and checked out the pool that is hidden underneath the dance floor. The next couple of pages list all of the evidence captured at The Nat through electronic voice recordings and photographs along with a brief description of each piece.
